Eversheds is not your average law firm and we're not looking for average people. We do things differently in the way we treat our people and the service we provide. That's how we've become one of the largest law firms in the world and a great place to work and develop your career. Our corporate team is one of the most successful in Europe. As well as acting on the most complex, strategic projects for our clients, we also advise on a large volume of smaller transactions. Thanks to our resources, we are able to adopt a much more multidisciplinary approach to the way that we do business that delivers efficiency and results. Our lawyers are also supported by experienced, sector-focused experts to provide an unrivalled and seamless international offering. We are looking for a talented professional to join the corporate team in Leeds. The role will involve primarily transactional work in a range of areas covering M&A (public and private and both domestic and international cross border), joint ventures, equity capital markets and private equity. Candidates are likely to have a general skill set but with a potential to develop a specialism in one of these areas as their career progresses. You will be required to contribute proactively and enthusiastically to the above strategic objectives via structured business development activity with the internal and external market. You will also be expected to develop close working relationships with appropriate office contacts throughout the business both nationally and internationally. The role will cover the full remit of corporate work including all aspects of client generation, client work and relationship management and business development. You may also supervise and develop junior lawyers in the team, where appropriate. You will have the opportunity to leverage off Eversheds unique selling points so far as the local market is concerned, including specialist sector expertise, international capability and a highly developed project management approach. This will involve opportunities in the local market, but also in respect of wider national and international initiatives within Eversheds. Typically, you will have between one to three years post-qualification experience to enable you to have gained the required breadth and depth of experience for this role. However, we are happy to hear from anyone who can demonstrate the skills and knowledge we are looking for. You are likely to have trained at a major City or national law firm and have a strong academic background/qualifications. You will be able to demonstrate a high level of technical skill and competence, particularly in company law and have the ability to take into consideration the commercial impact of your advice when applying technical expertise to decisions. You will have the ability to manage a heavy workload and deal with the competing demands of clients which arise from involvement in a number of separate transactions at once. You will demonstrate good networking skills and have an ability to build strong client relationships. You will have experience of separate different types of business development activity and be able to demonstrate an ability to drive for more clients and work. You will be able to build great relationships with colleagues you work with in other practice groups and ideally will have some experience of supporting junior colleagues. You will have a proven track record of complying with quality systems and risk management procedures and be able to demonstrate an ability to influence the shape of new initiatives for your practice group and/or the firm as a whole. You will be able to demonstrate the delivery of excellent client care. Due to the nature of the work in this role, drive, enthusiasm and ability to work well as part of a team are vital. In addition to the above, Eversheds also require awareness and full participation in the Firm?s commitment to equality and diversity, the environment and health and safety.
