Eversheds is not your average law firm and we're not looking for average people. We do things differently in the way we treat our people and the service we provide. That's how we've become one of the largest law firms in the world and a great place to work and develop your career. Our company commercial group handles major projects for some of the largest clients in the world. We enable our lawyers to stretch their skills and gain experience few other law firms can offer. Our group includes a wide variety of experts, from dealmakers and banking experts through to contract drafters and IP specialists. With the resources of an international firm and an award winning, innovative approach, all of our people are able to offer carefully managed, progressive business solutions that modern day organisations require. The Competition EU & Regulatory team consists of six partners and thirteen associates split between London and Leeds. We cover the full range of competition, EU advice including: anti-trust (regulatory investigations and private actions); merger control; state aid; public procurement challenges; trading and compliance advice; export control and other regulatory advice. Chambers and Partners 2009 states that "the firm matches the quality of the magic circle but at much better value". We have been consistently busy over many years and in the current financial year will post growth of over 40% on the prior year. We have a particular strength in anti-trust defence work and are incredibly busy on a number of very high profile UK and EU investigations. In this role, you will typically form part of a large team to assist on large matters or to operate as primary/lead fee earners on small matters. You will have experience of and be involved in matters such as merger control, investigations, compliance and possibly trading advice. The role has a high degree of autonomy and there would be the expectation that you will be responsible for the supervision of more junior colleagues, including paralegals. One example of our current workload is that we are currently defending a major global company in defence of civil and criminal investigations in the UK and EU. With this example and many other requirements in the role, you will be expected to travel around the UK and some international travel would be necessary as well. You will already be working as a competition specialist within a major city or international law firm. You will have expertise across two or three of the key specialisms within the team. We are looking for someone with at least one year PQE (up to around four years PQE), however, we are flexible on the level of experience. You will have a good understanding of economics, a Competition Law Diploma from Kings College London and/or competition litigation experience would certainly be desirable. Also, ideally you will have one or more foreign languages. You work to get a full understanding of the client?s needs and its business drivers from the outset. You build a rapport with clients by questioning and exploring their view. You demonstrate experience in managing communications confidently, clearly and appropriately with a wide range of stakeholders including clients and colleagues. You demonstrate commercial awareness when providing technical advice. You have a track-record of actively seeking to build links with other parts of the business and deliver results. You are a team player and keen to get involved in growing a team that enjoys working together. In addition to the above, Eversheds also require consciousness and full participation in the Firm?s commitment to equality and diversity, the environment and health and safety.
