The reputation of the Burges Salmon Projects Group has continually grown, and it is now one of the largest and most successful PPP and Projects practices in the UK
Work
The Projects Group has extensive experience of advising on PPP, project finance and partnering arrangements in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. The firm acts for both the public and private sectors, with clients that include the Ministry of Defence, SERCO NS, FirstGroup, Department for Transport, Babcock, BAE Systems, Corus, Firebuy, EADS, London Fire & Emergency Planning Authority, Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, Costain and Reuters.
The group has closed some of the largest and most complex project finance transactions to take place in the UK in recent years. Projects include:
Defence
Search and Rescue Helicopter project for the Department for Transport and MoD, a PFI for the provision of search and rescue services in the UK.
A400M simulator for MoD, a PFI for the provision of a simulator trainer for A400M aircrews.
Advising the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces on the YahSat military satellite communications project.
Emergency Services
Avon & Somerset Police, advising on collaborative shared services outsourcing.
The London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority on its HQ relocation projects and various (confidential) procurements.
Central and Local Government Procurement
Carbon Trust, advising on the recently launched Carbon Trust Standard: the world's first award scheme for organisations that have taken action on climate change by genuinely reducing their carbon footprint.
Advising on purchasing arrangements for the Pan-Governmental Agreement for geographic information worth in excess of £100m, on behalf of over 100 government departments and public bodies. This includes advice on state aid, procurement and all aspects of the wider commercial arrangements.
Nuclear
Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, advising on the competition for the decommissioning of Dounreay, and advising on a Energy Act transfer scheme.
Waste
Costain, advising in its role as design-build contractor on the £2 billion Greater Manchester waste management PFI project.
GMWDA, advising construction sub-contractor on its participation in this waste project, one of the largest in the EU.
Requirements
We look for an excellent academic record coupled with experience gained from a firm with a strong reputation for Projects, Procurement, Finance, Construction and/or Commercial work. This role will suit lawyers from any of these backgrounds as full support and training will be given to the successful candidate.
